New Claymore
We are just finishing a new sword and I’m really proud of it. After months of research and work we have now created our first Claymore! This is a classical Scottish swords used by the Highlanders of Scotland. We will introduce it very soon but before we need your help for 2 things: Color and name. As we believe that everything we do is for you guys, we want your input on the best way to launch this new addition to our collections. At first we would like to have your vote for the color. We have 2 options in mind: Gold or Silver.
Also we need to find a name for it. if you have some good ideas, please share it in comments section or in facebook. Your suggestions are welcome!
Please look at the picture bellow and vote for the painting color you like and we will do it.

I would vote that the new claymore be dubbed “the Thane” after the warrior lords of Scotland.

So if you chose our name do we get a claymore as our prize?
)
“Highlander” all the way!

Highlander would be the finest name for that sword.
Wallace is quite romanthic, but also valid.

I’d vote for “The Great Montrose” or “Sword of Montrose”.

Hmm a name… (i dont have facebook) maybe it could be a wind sword called Fujin. (which means Wind God in japanese.)

“The Highlander” seems simple, yet appropriate. People will quickly link a claymore and a name like that. Great idea for a sword, coming from a lover of 2-handed blades!

The Highlander is an obvious choice, and very fitting for the weapon.
Another possibility is “The Gallowglass”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallowglass — The Gallowglass were a hybrid of Gael fury and Norse arms. They transformed the battlefield of medieval Europe, but are often overlooked in history. They work beautifully as a fantasy construct, however, tapping into both Celtic and Viking imagery. They were renowned for their ferocity, their refusal to retreat, and their use of heavy weapons — big, two-handed axes and later incorporating the claymore as well. It’d be a nice touch on theme to have two Gallowglass weapons in your line: the huge sword, and perhaps eventually a huge axe (which often looked much like a bardiche).

Sword of Cawdor. Failing that, the Highlander.

How about the name clan chief Claymore or you could even make different colours and styles for different clans such as the MaCleods, Campbells, MacDougal and many more!!!
July 22nd, 2010 at 15:06
I like “the Bruce” myself.
July 22nd, 2010 at 16:10

I visit Scotland every year and ‘Thane’ feels right!
July 22nd, 2010 at 20:37
I think an antiqued brass colour would be more fitting than silver or gold
July 22nd, 2010 at 20:44
Oops, I almost forgot a name for the sword, Creachadair means reiver in Celtic, it also means freebooter or predator.
July 22nd, 2010 at 21:51
I like The Highlander, or The Immortal
July 22nd, 2010 at 22:17
Highlander, and bronze color.
July 22nd, 2010 at 23:58
I think the gold is great but the riccaso should be leather and the handle be in a wood colour as well.
July 22nd, 2010 at 23:59
As for the name
There Can Be only one
“Claidh’s Mhor”
July 23rd, 2010 at 06:38
Since it is unsure if the use of the word Claymore actually existed before the 18th century, it would be cool to name her something in Gaelic…
Like Two Handed Sword being “claidheamh dà làimh”, or maybe Freedom, “saorsa” or even “gan eagla” meaning Without Fear…
I dunno, they’re pretty bad names I guess xD
Good luck with the search thou, really nice looking Sword!
July 24th, 2010 at 01:33
How about Stormreaver?
July 24th, 2010 at 14:39

For the name: THE Claymore!
It’s what it is! THE first Claymore who is worthy of the name claymore…in my 12 years of LARP I’ve never saw a claymore that was so perfect. The weight, the length, the color, the balance…that’s it! THE CLAYMORE!

Name the sword……………..
CALIBURN
justification…. It is the sword of Uther Pendragon which was placed in
the stone that Arthur removes. The sword CALIBURN is
later broken in battle and Arthur in fear of making Uther
angry, throws the broken sword into the lake. The Lady of
the lake catches THE SWORD CALIBURN and
gives Arthur EXCALIBUR in return a sword that can not be
w broken…..
A proper name, with a proper mythical legend for a new Celtic
sword

It looks pretty good like LOTR or like William Wallace sword. But I like using a Kitana. And been praticing the art for many years. But i don’t if you let players. To play as wondering ronin in your larp. It would be very cool..
