Patrick Lessard created Calimacil in 2003 with the idea to develop the best foam weapons ever to exist. A bit unusual and crazy as a starting idea, Patrick pursued this journey by experimenting with both a chemical scientist as well as a specialist from the foam industry. In time Patrick successfully created a formula to build an indestructible and realistic foam sword. Being an engineer and truly passionate about mediaeval history and LARP, Patrick developed a unique process to build a foam sword that is both realistic and safe to fight with. This sword is now being recognized as the best foam weapon to exist. Patrick has succeeded in merging a high technology approach combined with an artistic knowledge from the ancient blacksmiths to create an unique type of foam weapon. While he continues to make his high tech foam sword done by hand within his small shop in Quebec, Patrick also continues with his research and development in order to improvement the Calimacil’s weapon. Here is an example of the steps required to create a foam sword. From the artistic drawing to the sculpted piece and the finish foam product, Patrick is involved in every step to ensure the high quality in creating a Calimacil weapon.
